Tipped Off !
Normally we have to submit endless Freedom Of Information requests to get particular documents or evidence, so we are delighted that this one just fell into our laps.
As part of the Stage II response to our formal complaint to the council, Nick Eveleigh (CEO) rather helpfully supplied a document relating to a reported planning breach at the Hamptons. The Investigation Report by one of the Enforcement Team, details a site visit, and the results of an observation carried out on 20/05/20. Here’s the report.
Now the key dates to note are the case opened date 28/04/20, and the site visit date 20/05/20.
Imagine our surprise when we re examined this document obtained under the Freedom Of Information Act.
So just a day after the enforcement case was opened, a senior member of the Planning Department emailed the Chelmsford Muslim Society, and tipped them off about an ongoing investigation.
Is it any wonder that the “numerous” site visits and observations (all made after the tip off) found no evidence of any planning breach.
